For the Dough:
- 2 cups warm milk (110°F)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4–5 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. Then add the melted butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated into a smooth garlic butter spread.
- Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a 12×18 inch rectangle. Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the dough. Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Second Rise: Place the rolls cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 to 45 minutes until they become puffy.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- The yeast mixture should become frothy to ensure the yeast is active.
- Adjust the flour quantity as needed to achieve a soft but manageable dough.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese over the filling before rolling.
- Serve the rolls warm for the best taste and texture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container; reheat before serving to refresh softness.
