Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 15.25 oz cake mix (any flavor)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Add-Ins

  • 1 ½ cups add-ins (e.g., chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruit, or candies)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and spray a 9×13 inch baking pan with nonstick spray. Set it aside for later use.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir everything together until well combined. Then fold in your choice of 1 ½ cups of add-ins. Note that the batter will be quite thick.
  3. Spread Batter: Transfer the thick batter into the prepared pan. Use a spatula or your hands to spread it evenly across the surface. For extra flavor and texture, sprinkle additional add-ins on top if desired.
  4. Bake the Bars: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 17-20 minutes until the edges puff up and start to set. The center should still be slightly soft but cooked through.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. This helps them set nicely and prevents crumbling.
